CHRIS DE BURGH vs BON IVER

2011: The Year In Rejects Part 1

ABX - Lady In Beth (Chris De Burgh vs Bon Iver)

Download: direct via Raptorhideout | Soundcloud

For the fifth year in row we are celebrating the holiday season by delivering lumps of musical coal in the form of tracks that were not good enough to make the cut this year. I’m sure Justin Vernon felt good about his 2011 with all the critical acclaim, Grammy nominations, and having the best guest spot on Watch The Throne. Hopefully mixing “Beth/Rest” with “Lady In Red” doesn’t do anything to take away from that.

NEW YEARS EVE EVE + REGULAR OLD NEW YEARS EVE:
We are doing back to back nights in Chicago at Lincoln Hall to close out 2011. Tickets for the New Years Eve show with Willy Joy and My Gold Mask have sold out, but there are still tickets available for the night before that. Come spend the penultimate night of 2011, Friday, December 30th with us, Driftless Pony Club, and Team Bayside High. The show is 18+ and you can buy tickets here. Check out the poster for both shows by Aesthetic Apparatus.

“I have very specific ideas about what a live concert is for and unfortunately over the last decade my reasons and rationales have become less and less relevant. I don’t think that’s as simple as me getting older or a generational gap. I think there are changes in what technology has done to the way the audience perceives the concert and has changed even our conception of time where, you know, “I can’t go five minutes without looking at my phone.” Y’know, those types of things … My idea of a concert is very much like you go in and it should be a kind of journey, the band takes you on a journey, and if the band is good, the band can typically play whatever it wants and get away with it and that’s thrilling for the band and it’s thrilling for the audience. That’s been kind of subverted by what I call the “greatest hits mentality.” And I see that across the board, I don’t care what band it is.” —Billy Corgan opens up in the latest Progress Report.
